Why understanding your blood sugar level is important for your health?



What is glucose?

Glucose is a sugar that you get from food or can be made in the body.

It’s the major source of energy that your body’s cells need, particularly your brain as it’s the only food that it uses.

The glucose travels in the body through the bloodstream, this is why we call it blood glucose. Some hormones are involved in glucose use, it’s insulin.

It balances the glucose in the body and stores it for later use in the liver and muscles.

We call it hyperglycaemia when you have too much sugar in your blood and hypoglycaemia when the blood sugar level is low.


Common symptoms of high blood sugars


Usually, when we talk about the blood sugar level, we think of obesity or diabetes, but having a high blood sugar level in our body can also be linked to symptoms and diseases such as:



  • Headaches

  • Frequent urination

  • High thirst

  • Acne

  • PCOS

  • Diabetes

  • Irritability

  • Fatigue

  • Anxiety

How can you test it?

You can check your blood sugar level via a blood test in the morning on an empty stomach to get optimal results as you haven't eaten yet or do anything that might higher or lower your blood sugar level

Case study



Marie, 30 years old. Acne, fatigue , PMS and weight gain


When I met Marie, she told me that she was exhausted all the time, irritable and in a constant bad mood.
